  7. JASON ONLINE, a computer mediated communication (CMC) system, is an
  8. integral component of a comprehensive, national teacher in-service
  9. training program administered by the JASON Foundation for Education and
  10. sponsored through the Eisenhower National Program for Mathematics and
  11. Science Education, United States Department of Education.

  13. JASON ONLINE is designed to introduce teachers to the world of
  14. telecommunicating and to provide additional resources such as classroom
  15. tips, lesson ideas, and online support for teachers using the JASON
  16. Project and the JASON curriculum.  JASON ONLINE provides teachers with
  17. two services or tools:

  19.  1)  JASON E-MAIL SYSTEM -- a network linking teachers around the world
  20.      with other computer users, including scientists, teachers, and
  21.      others.

  23.  2)  JASON BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM -- a forum for teachers to share ideas
  24.      such as classroom tips, lesson ideas, and updated information on
  25.      JASON expeditions.
